Beaches and Relaxation

This vacation was all about relaxation for us. The trip definitely lived up to our expectations in that respect. A pleasant 2 mile walk from our peaceful hotel on Coronado Island (Check out the resort), the beach on Coronado island is a fabulous spot. While the kids dug endlessly in the sand, or buried David over and over, I sat and read the latest book club selection, "Living Buddha, Living Christ" (a book I would definitely recommend). Really, you can't ask for a more relaxing experience.

Well, perhaps the only drawback is the fact that also located on the island is a naval air strip. The silence is fairly frequently interrupted by the sound of fighter jets, although Ethan enjoyed seeing them.

Our hotel room had a view of the bay and the San Diego skyline beyond. Except for fighting off seagulls for our breakfast, it was an ideal setup. One morning, we watched dolphins playing in the bay. The next day, we spotted another half dozen or so just offshore at the beach pictured above. We started buying groceries for breakfast, since neither my stomach nor my wallet could handle the $60 breakfast extravaganzas we started out the week with.
